"CDM Project Cooperation in China to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals " will be carried out by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchange and the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) jointly. This project will achieve an combination of the Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations and clean development mechanism (CDM) projects to promote the CDM project development in China as well as local sustainable development.
As a project organizer, the Ministry of Science and Technology requires the local partners capable to provide the necessary infrastructure and with certain project developing ability. Therefore, on August 18, 2006, Division of Social Development, MOST organized a promotion meeting invloving more than 20 representatives from 12 local Science and Technology Departments (bureaus) of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Henan and other provinces.
Lv Xuedu, deputy director of Global Environment Office,MOST, presided over the meeting and gave a summary report on the project. the 21th Century Center introduced the project's overall framework, the detailed implementation plan and the main tasks of the involved local departments (bureaus).
